Artistic Leadership Manager
As the Latin Ballet of Virginia (LBV) evolves, we are seeking an experienced arts management leader whose skill set can fill the following important roles. The board may modify or split this(se) role(s) depending on the qualifications of the preferred applicant. Title and salary are commensurate with experience and responsibilities.
An artistic leader with a deep knowledge of and love for Latino American dance and multiculturalism, who can be the face of LBV to audiences, the media, funders, school administrations, and families.
A community leader who can identify needs in the region that LBV is uniquely qualified to meet
A strategic leader who can sustain LBV’s growth by strengthening relationships with governmental, nonprofit, corporate and individual supporters.
An organizational leader who can direct and develop the staff, oversee marketing, and manage logistics to keep the company running smoothly.
Expected Duties
Oversee and supervise all our dance programming, both local and touring
Negotiate presentation fees, contract terms, and logistics
Negotiate programming in support of school and local government educational programs
Oversee instruction at LBV’s two education centers: Richmond and Glen Allen
Interface with the Board of Directors and its committees on artistic, operational, fundraising, and financial matters
Interface with the public, the media, and students’ families
Direct two or more productions per season
Manage and develop senior staff
Desired Attributes
Familiarity with classical, Latin and other multicultural and world dance forms
Experience directing fully staged, full-length dance productions
Experience managing diverse teams, including both employees and volunteers
Strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize and delegate work in a fast-paced environment
Experience adhering to a budget and reporting results
Experience with Microsoft Office programs, social media, bookkeeping software, and email management services
Additional strong considerations include:
Fluency or near-fluency in Spanish
Deep knowledge of one or more Spanish, Latin American, or Afro-Caribbean cultures
Familiarity with the people and institutions of Richmond, Virginia
A Bachelor’s degree or more advanced degree
Teaching experience, with K-12 and adult learners
Classical Ballet and Contemporary - Modern dance training
Experience in setting choreography on multiple dancers
Experience in grant writing
Video recording and editing skills
