Lydia Ross
Dancer/Faculty
Lydia Ross, originally from Richmond, VA, discovered her love for dance early on through Richmond Ballet’s Mind in Motion program, which sparked a lifelong passion for movement and expression. She began her training at the School of Richmond Ballet (SRB), where she quickly advanced through the ranks, participating in the school’s prestigious trainee program for two years. During this time, she partnered with the VCU Dance program, expanding her knowledge of dance and earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her dual focus on dance and psychology has given her a unique perspective on the emotional and mental benefits of dance.
After completing the trainee program, Lydia pursued a professional dance career with Starr Foster Dance Company and has performed with various companies. She continues to dance with Conflux Dance Theater, where she has had the opportunity to refine her technique and performance skills. Her most memorable performances, which span across different stages and companies, include Swan Lake, Napoli, Angelica Burgos’s Tensegrity, and Ma Cong’s C’est pas d’Lamour. These roles have been significant in her growth as an artist, allowing her to explore a range of emotions and storytelling techniques through dance.
Lydia is also deeply committed to education and community service. As a former Southampton Tiger, she worked as the Student Intervention Liaison at Southampton, where she passionately supported children from different backgrounds, fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and personal growth. Lydia is excited to join the Latin Ballet of Virginia as a new faculty and company member, where she looks forward to contributing her talents and passion to the culturally rich environment of LBV and inspiring others through dance.
