LA MAGDALENA, The River of Dance
"Representing Colombia with Great Pride"

River of Life
Latin Ballet of Virginia
Music: REGALAME by Laura Kalop

LA MAGDALENA, The River of Dance! Inspired by the literary work, “El Río Grande de la Magdalena” written by Colombian writers, Cristina Díaz Díaz and Ada López Bayona LBV will portray the importance of protecting nature and Colombia’s most natural and main resource, the Magdalena River.

Hailing from Colombia, Artistic Director, Ana Ines King will produce this work with passionate pride. Prized Latin Ballet dancers Marisol Betancourt Sotolongo, Adelle Broom, Glen Lewis and DeShon Rollins will collaborate with Colombian musical artists, Laura Kalop and Raúl Castaño Escobar and the performance will also include the visual art work by Colombian artist, Efrain Saldaña. This international team of talented artists will collaborate and represent the pride, culture, and art of Colombia.

The Latin Ballet of Virginia traveled and performed in Madrid, Salamanca and Barcelona, and not without special appearances by Shakira and Queen Sofía of Spain! Ambassadors from across the globe were in attendance of this regal event!

We thank our donors and sponsors for giving us the resources to take the gift of dance across the pond. We appreciate all who donate to the Latin Ballet in order to give us these opportunities to spread love, culture, and dance through our little non-profit here in Virginia. We are also happy to announce that during 2022, this performance will also be brought to Paris, Amsterdam and of course, Colombia! We thank the Colombian Embassy and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia for supporting our endeavor.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT TO HELP US BRING BIGGER AND BETTER PERFORMANCES AS WELL AS AIDING OUR MISSION FOR DANCE EDUCATION THROUGH ART, LANGUAGE AND CULTURE.
