Ivana Lo Piccolo
Former Dancer / choreographer / faculty
A native from New York from Italian parents, grew up in Carini, Sicily. She had been following her passion for the arts and classical ballet and contemporary dance since she was a little girl, starting with maestra Ignazia Galante in Sicily.
After Ivana received her certifications as a dancer and aerobics instructor in Palermo, Sicily, she started working at Artifex School of Dance. Her passion for dance guided her to receive an offer to work for the national TV channel as ballerina for the Italian version of “Ok il presso e giusto”. It was then when Ivana started her big roll as a choreographer and dancer with the national TV channel Italia 1, Canales, Rai2.
For her last fifteen years of her career, she had the honor of working with Daniel Ezralow, Nikos Lagousakos, Brian Bollard, Garrison Rochelle, Mia Molinari, Annarita Larghi, Adele Merati, Marco Garofalo, Fabbrizio Mainini and Kledy Kadiu.
Ivana has worked in Sicily, Rome and Milan at numerous television programs. Additionally, Ivana had been teaching contemporary dance and ballet at the Spazio Danza School of Dance in North Italy. Ivana had over 15 years of experience on performing and choreographing for large scope events. She also a had years of experience working in dance as therapy for children with disabilities and attention deficit disorders. She joined LBV in 2016 and became instructor and choreographer for our Junior Company.
Very sadly, Ivana passed away 2017 from her battle with cancer. Her unique and graceful presence is heartbreakingly missed. We continue to dance for Ivana and Latin Ballet of Virginia will never forget her work with us. She will forever be a part of our stage.
