Hank Bamberger is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer with over twenty years of experience in the dance world. As a performer, artistic director, and conceptual artist, Bamberger has trained vigorously in diverse movement lexicons (such as Butoh), theatre, musical theatre, improvisation, film, and visual arts. He is educated in dance pedagogy, composition, and choreography, with expertise in modern, jazz, ballet, and experimental forms/techniques. Hank danced with the Paul Taylor II Dance Company from 2010 to 2015, where he taught master classes in modern dance technique/Paul Taylor style and performed as soloist nation/worldwide. After his tenure with the company, we went on to serve as the Artistic Director of the West End Academy of Dance in Richmond, VA. Since 2018, Mr. Bamberger has been an active dance maker creating work within his own experimental dance company, Bamberger Dance Projects. He is inspired by an array of varied movement spectrums/languages, as his work runs the gamut of modern to postmodern, contemporary to experimental, social to avant-garde, and commercial to classical. His work with Bamberger Dance Projects has led him to create dances for the United Nations Peace Boat (World Oceans Day), Design Pavilion, NYC’s ocean sustainability presentation/performance with Azimut Yachts (Earth Day), and immersive performance in sustainable fashion with Global Fashion Exchange (GFX). In 2019, Bamberger was selected as an emerging choreographer by the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning’s 10th Annual Making Moves Dance Festival. Hank earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with a concentration in modern dance from Marymount Manhattan College in May 2009. He now holds his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in dance and choreography from Sarah Lawrence College. Mr. Bamberger will be a Ballet Specialist at the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School come the Fall and will continue to teach and perform as a guest artist state and nationwide.
