El Día de Muertos, “Day of the Dead” is observed as a national holiday in Mexico; however, in Mexico the celebration dates back 3,000 years ago to indigenous Aztec people. The Aztecs celebrated and honored the goddess, Mictecacihuatl or “Lady of the Dead” during the entire month of August at these festivities over 3,000 years ago.
